good news. the release of Self Control, the first album of The Flashing Rones,
is actually happening within this year. it´s my most extensive cover-art so far
and the flyer and poster for the release show are finished, too.
here´s a classic video game cover attendant to the release of pyjamabay´s new video. when the bayman grabs the mic and touches the fire flower afterwards he´s on spitfire and able to kill every wack emcee!
look out for the little pyjamabay sign, for the first time in 2D!
yeahyaw, Pyjamabay´s first passionate effort is finally about to drop.
a limitless and uncompromising collection of sound-spheres,
each one a kaleidoscopic bubble-universe on its own.
you might catch the drift of his beats and they´ll take you on a journey.
I designed the whole artwork, including cover-art, logos, illustrations, layout and photos. It will be released on CD in the shape of a nice digipack.
last summer I discovered the music of Curren$y. since then I was thrilled and constantly listening through the tons of his releases. with him came a bunch of fellows, all kinda related to the whole Jet Life movement (except Domo Genesis, who belongs to Odd Future but the cover fitted perfect).
I put together a collection of my favourite artworks.
there is a fine little story behind this picture.
it is told that during hard times the big monument of Karl Marx will rise from the ground and smash every enemy of the city chemnitz.
I mashed that with the post-apocalyptic science-fiction movie Zardoz, where a huge, flying, hollow stonehead teaches:
The gun is good. The penis is evil. The penis shoots seeds, and makes new life to poison the Earth with a plague of men, as once it was, but the gun shoots death, and purifies the Earth of the filth of brutals. Go forth . . . and kill!
one of my all time favourite characters is Vaughn Bodé´s Cheech Wizard.
probably because this little hooded guy kinda followed me noteless for a long time. he was generally accompanied by his lizard apprentice. I saw both first as often used graffiti characters and found out later that they where underground comic characters in 1967, too.
then I found out about the link to Ralph Bakshi´s movie Wizards and the red robot, which was inspired by Bode´s Wizard.
I wanted to do like ... call it a homage, redesign or a third step
in the history of the evolution of this character.
he´s old now but drunk and high as always.
the Cheech Weezard with his Lizard ... Chong.
